The installed PCM generation and software version must be checked. Vehicle model and registration year alone do not confirm compatibility.

⚙️ PCM Software Version — Important

Check the complete PCM software/version screen before ordering. Relevant PCM 3.1 software versions normally begin with 2.xx, 3.xx or 4.xx.

PCM 3.1 with 4.xx Software

This is the recommended software configuration for the V6.7.1 map database.

If the unit already has suitable software, an unnecessary firmware update should not be carried out.

PCM 3.1 with 2.xx / 3.xx Software

Older units can experience a zoom-out limitation with V6.7.1. The map display may not behave correctly beyond approximately 2 km / 1.5 miles, depending on the system and display units.

Compatibility and any required software update must therefore be confirmed before installation. Do not assume that every older unit can be upgraded to 4.xx or that a software update will remove this limitation.

The activation is prepared for the supplied vehicle details. The activated package cannot be prepared or dispatched until the correct VIN has been received.

🔐 USB Map Activation

The package includes activation for the individual vehicle, carried out using USB.

PIWIS 2 / PIWIS 3 diagnostic equipment is not required for this activation process.

Map activation, navigation data and any necessary PCM software update are separate parts of the installation. The correct sequence depends on the existing software.

🛠️ Installation

The exact procedure depends on the confirmed PCM software version.

1. Check the installed PCM software and confirm compatibility.
2. Complete the appropriate PCM software update only if required.
3. Connect the prepared activation USB and complete the map activation.
4. Connect the USB containing the European map database.
5. Start the map installation and follow the on-screen prompts.
6. Allow the installation to finish fully.
7. Restart PCM when requested.
8. Check that Map Version 6.7.1 is displayed.

Maintain a stable vehicle power supply throughout the process. Do not remove active installation media or interrupt power during firmware, activation or map installation.
