Each new update requires activating the card. For example, if you have the 2015 version, simply replacing the card will not work - you need to add activation for the 2024 version in order for it to function.

If no old SD and your system displays messages such as “navigation not enabled”, “navigation not available”, or “navigation not installed”, this means your vehicle’s navigation license is not active. In this case, the SD card will not work until the system is activated.

Vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2021 may require a one-time license activation. Audi dealers typically charge between £60 and £100 for this — and it applies only to the current map version.
